The Bird That Flew Away

If the sun would speak,
I’d have many tales for it…
For I have seen, done and been everywhere I’d imagined.
Some may call it a joke, others a mystery but I rather call it a miracle,
They who seek the "whys" and the "if
s" of what they thought was unfair,
Know not that I did it, I wrote my script and lived it, like a pearl beneath the sea
I was that little bit of brilliance among the corals of the world.
So why then do you still ask why I closed my eyes?

An escapade that turned out so right,
So ripe that the world listened to the voice in me,
That little girl in me came alive then,
This was the secret to my freedom.
Not a very well kept one.
My wish is  that the heavens will open for every child out there ..
Let them see that this world is right for them as it was for me.
Joy washed me every time I see people wearing pretty smiles,
Yet you still ask why I closed my eyes!

If the moon told me night stories,
Every child would sleep with a smile as I did,
For I told it the truth, my happy realities.
I found me, I loved myself and I liked all that came my way,
But why do you ask yourself why my eyes remain closed?

Thank you, Maya Angelou.
