The Animal in Man

They can kill our bodies but not our souls,
This splattered blood isn’t our dreams being
Drained from every essence of what makes us us.
They can sew our lips tight but our voices will always get louder.

The scars, blisters and burns on our necks
Are our pride, a victory to show how we overcame.
Through all this, you see us as all things bad,
Black or White skin; we are all the epitome of the gods.

Robin

High tides, vicious gales tell the tale,
Her story of glum sunsets and moon rises,
Her little wings hurt as she glides in a world,
A world she dreads where everything in it remind her to frown.

Slow gashes of nothingness bestow the unknown,
Her long and unchaining days bring her to a weep,
For her weak perches beg to be heard…
But the storm hushes her cries…she weeps, she weeps.
Silently her world wonders where she is.

Must the world be so cruel that she cannot see her hurting?
A fight within brings a flight to the abyss
Eyes open, eyes closed darkness all around
A thick smog of lifelessness is all that there is
More and more she sinks in what she fears,
Her heart beats yet she cannot feel.

A call, a hint that there’s a way roars,
Suddenly she can feel the thumps from her big heart,
Eyes open, flowers and a walkway appear,
There she is whole again like an embryo
Pure of the cold of this world,
Embraced by the allure of a smothering scent
She smiles, the glitz of her eyes reflect the uncut woman she is.

What a Bloke Shoundn't See (Haiku)

Your wrinkled stockings
Appear a tad bit tired,
Why does thee bother?

You can be tasty
Like Dorothy Lamour in her youth.
Ye legs are a snag.

All I ask of thee
Is to ditch them long stockings,
Then I can take thee.

Oh me daft ferrets
Moan endlessly about it.
Just lose them Nora.

I would like to see
Me lone bird really dressed up,
That would be sublime.

Orient Express --
Thee and I to Australia.
Think about it lass?

Winsome Sail

Swiftly guided into an enigmatic force,
A feeling locked between bliss and warmth lingers beautifully within,
Amazing though it is...it feels distant but charming all the same.

Drawn yet torn between the unknowns of the day,
My mind wanders to the shores of a sunset lite smile,
That moment froze and I sunk so deep in it's arms
That I became who I was really meant to be...

Awoken, enlightened and touched with something I can't even begin to define,
I know this this thing...is all I can call it will be the height of happiness.
The sweet scent of a worldly heaven is what I thought it was,
I daren't call it that though, naming it would be senseless,
With eyes shut, breath as slow as a boat moving with a gentle current...
Thoughts turn into something stronger and better and I wonder with amazement.

Lost Overwhelmed Virtuous & Enchanted (L.O.V.E)

When words cannot define what the heart feels,
And when the word "love" equates to a cliche;
immortality is born.

When her smile means more than the world,
When that alone makes me feel like I can...
I can do anything just to see her smile again.

I know now what this heart is meant for,
I feel I can live and die a thousand times
Just to get a single chance to see her,
Feel her skin against mine
and listen to her charming voice .

My will is overpowered by her;
For she cast spell on me long ago,
I will let lose my emotions and let us be,
Be as one soul, one heart
And one body underneath the bright stars.

Nubian Queen

Lips smudged in the charm of her soul
Speak a sweet tongue only the gods know of,
Away from the Nile into her heart…
The parched pine for her reach lives on,
Her myrrh scent tames the sirocco’s child,
A Taureg walk into the depth of her shore
Brings all, cures all and sees years through.

The golden Saharan sands gashes her walk,
Not two, not four but an infinity of eyes peek
As the blue sun of night sings her praises
A mere mortal  though she is, she is a goddess among queens.

Misery's Visage

Smothered by soreness
Mothered by pain,
The sting of numbness gains,
Tears plunge so steep,
This sorrow I can't tame,
Todays chaos has tainted hearts,
Tortured souls and brought life to its knees.
Life like death has a face
This is it...

Today our solidarity,
Our fate and fortitude
Tasted the bitter tang
Of man's iniquity,
For once were lost like sheep,
Our light glows without admiration,
Forces known to steal our cause,
Have come to paint the sky dark,
Today the brute in man was seen.

Despite this odium,
Our cause will gain strength,
Our unity will hold with truth,
They that will cry will be calmed,
In us a victor is born,
We will reflect and not forget
The gloomy duo acts
Of he who calls himself right.
Will forever burn in us.

Revulsion will not glue
Our broken hearts,
For once man holds no answer,
Time will see us through
This dark age of silence.

Embracing Death’s Woes

Frozen inside still I
Bleed from your broken kiss,
A touch of ice embraces me
With a soaring sting of
An eternal affliction,
This forsaken truth
You’ve embraced charges
With a rage of lifelessness,
I ‘m left powerless
With the tears that are
The fragments of my soul;
My fortitude is forever gone.

When love stands still
Life is lost and grief is gained
When a man cries,
It’s all because it hurts
His soul’s core to touch
A love he once had,
His tears will force the
Sunflower face towards
The moonshine
Her voice will be captive of
The ocean’s pressure
And she’ll die like the waves
Of her emotions…

This immortal emptiness
Nurtures its ruins when night
Overcame life’s splendor
And every endeavor
I took to keep us away
From sorrow’s claws…
In this endless soreness
Bore our futile child.
These Hallow feelings
Will be my only foe.

These tears cannot reveal
My angst of numbness
That took me captive
When your life was denied:
My will to be departed with you,
This shame of life pierced through
My hopes like a lance of knights
And stole my lone essence,
Now I’ve got to face
This war of woes on my on.

Queen of Queens

A mantle of trust
Here where I stand
Watching you speak
Waiting for you to peep
At the beauty I hold
Within this shell of a body
They all know Iam
You see beyond it
Your eyes stay locked
Looking at the soul they seek.

From your hair follicles
Down to your feet
Beauty is all around you
For you are the queen of beauty
Your soul is a container of fine emotions
Always there for our hurting
And divided minds
This I say to please you not
But to tell it like it is.

Your ever pure heart
Holds the sentiments
Of a true giver
You’re our queen
And we’re your kingdom
You rule over us with
Your unmistakable human beauty
A spirit of wisdom and
Unimaginable splendor are the
Words that cannot define you
As I sleep I know you’ll
Always be there to lead the way…

Another dedication to Angie.

Keeper of My Heart

If my heart stalls
And loses its cause
She’ll lend me her’s
And if I lose my soul
She’ll pray to God
To keep it out of harm's way

When I’m thirsty
I’ll drink her sweet tears
She’s all I’ll need
To salt away my shredded
Heart’s fright,
If the forest of my mind
Starts to burn
Her whisper will tame the blaze
And I’ll hurt no more…

If I forget how to fly
Away from the affliction
Of this cruel world
She’ll carry me on her back
And together we’ll dash
To where evil lives not,
When my soul is cold
She’ll pluck out the feathers
From her golden wings
And cover my spirit with its
Warmth and divine essence.

If my blood should drain
A bag of her own soul,
She’ll offer, and I’ll rise to kiss
The tears off her face again
As I did before I began to bleed
This life away…
Every moment I cherish
And will remember
Till my last breath, I’ll always hold
On to her soft hand’s affection

In the night
When Iam all alone
Scared of my own childish fears
She’ll scream to chase
The demons of the pain I caused,
Morning will come with a smile
Whenever she’s here,
She alone has the power
To turn night into day
And pain into a pleasure
Of a hard-learnt lesson

I dedicate this poem to the most beautiful Zambian girl, Angie.

She Walks And I Look

When she walks by,
She makes my day.
A mayday alert rings
Whenever she walks by.
She walks and I look.

She swirls like a an ocean's wave,
And I admire every little bit of her.
My eyes met hers, I melt with shyness.
Her sublime beauty echoes for my touch,
The hue of her lips beg for my kiss…
She walks And I look.

Beauty meets eyes as she walks,
Light she brings as she walks,
A new life in me she gives as she walks,
Trees whisper her name as she walks,
She’s the talk of the men when she walks,
Their eyes are magnetized at her sight…
Flamboyantly she walks and I look too.

Glowing eyes of the night watchers
Light her pathway as she walks,
She is their princess.
A priceless sight of splendor she is,
She wears as bright as day
Her eyes as dark as night verbalize
My inner reflections…
She sleeps and I look.

Golden footprints she leaves,
Lead down my soul,
Through my mind
And straight to my heart.
I must follow them!
She strolls down the valley of
My lust, I look and she does too.
We both smile and walk away…
Tomorrow she’ll walk my way
And I’ll look at her again.

This piece was inspired by Maya's 'Phenomenal Woman'.
